Business Model and Strategic Plan Part I: The Shooting Gallery
Within the city limits of Temecula and Murrieta California, there are six businesses that sell firearms and ammunition. However, there are very few locations nearby for people to go and shoot. For this project, the writer will discuss a business proposal for a shooting range that will be located within close proximity to Temecula and Murrieta. Some of the topics to be discussed are the company’s mission and vision and how they relate to the overall strategic objectives of the company.

The company will have firearms for rent or customers can use their own; ammunition will also be available for sale.

Vision
While establishing the indoor range, the company will be looking to the future. Within the first year of operation, the company will recruit certified instructors and begin offering firearms classes. These classes will focus on safety and the basics of shooting. The target audience for the classes will be people that are thinking about or just beginning in the sport. More advanced classes can be set up at a later date if there is sufficient interest. The next step is to host shooting competitions. These matches will draw many of the avid shooters that want demonstrate their abilities. Prizes will be offered such as trophies, money, or other items. Expansion will also be a priority. Around the three year mark, the company will begin the process of expansion. We will look for viable locations to open an outdoor range that will offer the ability to shoot further distances that an indoor range cannot accommodate. Along with the shooting range there will be an area set aside for those that are interested in archery whether for hunting or just sport.
Guiding Principles and Values
Principles
In order to be successful in business, companies must have some basic principles that serve as a guide to accomplish the strategic objectives. The Shooting Gallery is no different and the principles are simple. The first and maybe the most important is that the customer is the primary focus of effort. Without our customers, there would be no reason at all to be in operation. The second portion is that each customer with receive courteous service from the staff. The customer that is treated in a rude or offensive manner will not return and they will let their friends know as well. The third principle is that all of the employees must work together.
