Business Communication Trends
October 30th 2011
The role that business communication played in my day-to-day activities when I had a home business selling jewelry was using email and the telephone constantly. The company I worked for provided every one with a home office website that had all the tools needed to do our home business selling lia sophia jewelry. Our managers were always available to answer any questions or offer the consultants advice. This made working for the company more enjoyable as well as the thought of confidence that I was doing well. I would use the company website to submit my orders, handle returns, order catalogs, and to access my personal website that I had through them. Email was a huge factor in my business. I would email my past and current hostesses along with ...view middle of the document...
Some days I would have to make follow up calls to past customers or send out invitations for my hostess. Whatever I needed to do for each show would automatically show up. This kept me very organized and I didn’t have to have post-it notes lying all over the place. To provide outstanding customer service, you must have good listening skills. Listening skills is the first point of contact we have with our clients. So it is imperative that we understand the purpose of the phone call or email so that we to help resolve the problem that has incurred with our product and provide the best customer service. Responding to customers in a timely manner via e-mail, a returned phone call or letter help me manage my daily work activities. These activities allow me to provide excellent customer service.
The trends that I saw were social networking sites like Facebook. I also saw my co-workers using business networking site as well. Doing this helped promote our business we ran and also created new ways to set up events. All we would have to do was create an event, send it to all of our Facebook friends and have them invite their friends and so on. I booked a ton of shows through Facebook. I would rather advertise my business on a Facebook page than buy and ad in a newspaper. More and more people are using social networking sites to meet new people and socialize.
The message types that resulted from these new trends are email and social networking. More information and advertising is being sent out and seen due to a social networking site. These new trends, such as social networking, show that it is very easy to provide us with instant and free advertising. Within a few minutes we can create an event to promote our business and send it to hundreds of people. It is that easy to get our advertising out there without having to spend money or waste time putting ads in the newspaper.
