Business communication today has changed the flow of business; it has increased the productivity and efficiency in today’s businesses.  Business owners can reach employees and clients throughout the globe in a matter of minutes. Many businesses use communications tools such as PDAs, email, fax, video-conferencing, instant-messaging, and the internet. Business can be managed remotely by using technology.
Business communication plays a big role in my day to day activities at my work place. My occupation requires me to deal with various departments within in my company and law offices throughout the United States. Our company amongst many companies has gone paperless, so we use the internet to retrieve documentations from a website. I use the internet to communicate with attorney’s regarding the fees and cost that is being charged for the services. I use the internet for 80% of my job function which sometimes could be enabling if the internet is experiencing problems for example: the server is done.
Even though, many companies today rely on the internet as a communication tool it could be a dangerous tool because of several viruses that can affect the computer system and cost the company several thousands to repair. Many companies have policies in place restricting employees’ access to several different sites because of the damages it may cause and the information that can be shared through the sites. Many identities have been stolen via internet because people freely give information that should only be released via a secured network.
Other sources of communication that are used in my workplace are PDA’s, teleconferencing and net meetings. Many executive use PDA’s to communicate with management while traveling. PDA’s have became very popular throughout the years because it allows executive to receive emails that are needed without using a computer. PDA’s is an effective tool because it can be used to plan meetings and for keeping track of schedules. Teleconferencing is something that my company uses for daily meetings to communicate with management throughout the different sites....
