Title: The Missing Island

Plot:
The story begins with an introduction about the future of Taiwan and the friction created between China and the United States over its ownership. In the midst of the tension, an island nation loses communication with the rest of the world. Planes, ships and submarines bound for Singapore were unable to establish contact with the bases there. Where the country was once located, only water can be found. When the news was announced to the world the next day, Richard Shaw--a multi-billionaire businessman-- decided that he would go find the missing country. Not only would he be able to know where a large portion of his investments disappeared to, but might also have a chance at claiming a country for his own ...view middle of the document...

Around them, the rest of the country evaporated, while the beautiful Princess Quadra surprised Kevin with the shocking revelation that she was an alien from the Sixer colony. The Sixer colony had chosen to test their Vanishing weapon on the country of Singapore. It would enable their Emperor Ozone to control the universe. However, the weapon was not working properly, as Princess Quadra had taken the Wand-an important component of the weapon. The moment Emperor Ozone discovered that his sister has betrayed them, he sent his warriors to find her. Leading the mission is the exceptional, mask wearing, General Java, who never knew defeat (he also had a secret passion for the princess though nobody knows).

In an attempt to save the island, Princess Quadra modified the Vanishing Ray to work such that only Kevin’s DNA could activate it and fire the reverse of the Vanishing Ray, bringing the island back. Jordan and team landed on what’s left of the island, crossing paths with the distressed Princes Quadra and Kevin where they learn of the peril of the situation. On the island, they defeated the heavily armed aliens with bamboo poles, swords and an ounce of wit. Finally, with the help of Princess Quadra, Jordan and Kevin infiltrated the mothership of the Sixers to fire the Reverse Vanishing Ray. However, they still had to confront the imposing General Java. Could they succeed in bringing back the island and get back to Earth?

Opinion:
I found the first half of the book quite boring as it narrated the discussions that the different country heads had. I only got interested when I learned that aliens were involved. The parts where the Earthlings defeated the high tech aliens on the island with traditional weapons were quite ambitious, though exciting. I like this book because it is very action-packed and full of surprises although I had to push myself to go through the first half.
