Criminal Justice with a Biblical Worldview
In Criminal Justice it is important to remember that a strong Biblical Worldview will define what kind of Law Enforcement Officer you are and can be. Biblical Worldview is believing everything in the Bible is truth. The bible states that, “Man was created by God in His own image” (Genesis 1: 27). God’s physical appearance is really unknown to us, as far as we know, but we know the nature of God from scripture and from His creation. Any one in Criminal Justice as a career, must take an oath to protect and serve the people. As a Christian these laws are more than just laws to enforce, they are instruction on how to live. In Roman 13:1-14 ESV, It states “Let every person be subject to the governing authority. For there is no authority except from God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment…….” So God provides the authority to govern over His people. The government can help defend and enforce the laws that protect individual rights of its people and allows punishment to the ones that break these laws. God’s commandments prohibit against murder, theft, coveting, adultery, and lying. These are ethical ways to live and treat your fellow man. These are laws that a law enforcement officer lives by. It is important to be a good moral character because it is the officer’s responsibility to represent the law enforcement agency. The officer that follows these ethical and moral laws will be honest and trustworthy, people will respect the position and follow direction. A Biblical Worldview gives the officer a drive for justice for the victims that has been wronged.
