Southeast Bank completed 14 years of operations in March 2010. It was established by an Act of Parliament known as the Export-Import Bank of Bangladesh Act 1981 and commenced operations in March 1982. Southeast Bank is wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh. Southeast Bank was set up for the purpose of financing, facilitating and promoting foreign trade in Bangladesh and also to provide financial assistance to exporters and importers and for functioning as the principal financial institution for coordinating the working of institutions engaged in financing export and import of goods and services with a view to promoting the country’s international trade.
