Pentingnya kesedaran tentang isu semasa

Isu semasa didefinisikan sebagai perkara atau kejadian terbaru yang berlaku di sekeliling kita, dalam negara atau pun di seluruh dunia. Isu semasa juga boleh di beri maksud sebagai apa apa kejadian yang berlaku yang memberi kesan atau impak ke atas sesetengah situasi contohnya bencana alam, masalah atau kejayaan dalam sesebuah negara, penemuan baharu, perubahan yang berlaku dan banyak lagi. Pengetahuan tentang isu semasa yang berlaku memberikan banyak kelebihan kepada banyak pihak terutamanya individu / isi rumah, pengurus perniagaan, pelabur dan juga pembuat dasar. Sekiranya individu dan isi rumah peka terhadap kesan yang bakal dihadapi, individu dan isi rumah akan tahu kesan yang bakal berlaku dan dapat bersedia untuk menghadapi. Selain itu, pada pengumuman bajet tahun 2014, pihak kerajaan telah mengumumkan penggunaan GST (Goods and Services Tax). Masih terdapat banyak pihak bingung dan kurang faham mengenai isu tersebut. Andaian awal individu dan isi rumah ialah harga barang akan semakin meningkat kerana pihak kerajaan telah menambah satu lagi cukai. Namun hakikatnya, cukai sebelum ini adalah digantikan kepada GST iaitu sebanyak 6%. Sekiranya individu dan isi rumah faham, penggunaan GST akan lebih memberikan kelebihan kerana harga barang akan berkurang. Sebagai contoh, Starbucks membeli biji kopi dari pemborong untuk membuat secawan kopi iaitu RM10 (RM10 + 4% GST) bermakna Starbuck membayar RM10.40. Pemborong menyimpan RM10 dan memberikan RM0.40 daripada Starbucks kepada pihak berkuasa cukai. kemudian anda membeli scawan kopi dari Starbucks dan membayar RM15.60 (RM15 + 4% GST). Starbucks kini menyimpan RM15 dan memberikan pada RM0.20 kepada pihak berkuasa cukai (RM0.60 - RM0.40). Sebab mengapa Starbucks hanya membenarkan RM0.20 kepada pihak berkuasa cukai adalah kerana mereka telah 'dibayar' RM0.40 cukai awal pada RM10 pertama, dan hanya RM0.20 akan dibayar pada tambah nilai.

Pihak seterusnya ialah pengurus perniagaan, dalam bidang perniagaan banyak perkara yang berlaku dalam dan luar negara akan memberikan kesan kepada sesebuah perniagaan. Hal ini akan mempengaruhi pengurus perniagaan dalam membuat keputusan dalam perniagaan yang bakal ataupun sedang dijalankan. Pihak pengurus perniagaan perlu peka terhadap banyak perkara contohnya perubahan dalam polisi negara, perkembangan teknologi, perubahan dalam ekonomi, dan banyak lagi. Dalam usaha ke arah negara maju, pihak kerajaan akan kerap menukar polisi, salah satu polisi baru yang akan memberi kesan ialah perubahan dalam kadar faedah pinjaman bank. Bagi pengurus perniagaan yang memerlukan modal untuk memulakan atau menambah perniagaan polisi baharu ini akan memberi kesan yang sangat tinggi. Polisi ini akan mempengaruhi kadar pulangan dan untung sesebuah perniagaan. Selain itu pihak pengurusan perniagaan perlu peka terhadap perkembangan teknologi yang boleh memberi kesan terhadap perniagaan. Contohnya perniagaan perbankkan sentiasa mendapat perubahan teknologi, seperti penggunaan system ATM dan kini hampir semua urusan boleh dilakukan secara online. Pihak pengurus perniagaan perlu kreatif untuk menjadikan peningkatan dalam teknologi sebagai salah satu kelebihan bagi perniagaan. Perubahan dalam dasar pembangunan ekonomi negara juga merupakan perkara yang penting. Sebagai contoh, bagi Malaysia dasar ekonomi yang pertama ialah pertanian, kemudian berubah kepada perindustrian dan kini kepada teknologi computer. Oleh itu, bagi pengurus perniagaan seharusnya peka dan dapat membuat keputusan yang bersesuaian dalam perniagaan.
