Audience Analysis Paper

The art of communicating is something that must be mastered when delivering results to an audience. To communicate effectively there are several factors that must be considered, and the mastery of knowing your audience determines how effective you are in communicating. If, you are charged with the task of “present[ing] quarterly sales information at an in-person meeting to a group of stakeholders, including managers, salespeople, and customers” (COM/285 Syllabus, 2010, p. 8), how do you convey this information? One option would be to choose delivering those sales results via a PowerPoint presentation. This will foster a supportive and interactive environment that will give all the details of the information in one place, and in a concise fashion. Another channel of communication to consider would be communicating that information to the entire group at once or communication to the shareholders based on similarities. The benefits to separating the groups would be to help eliminate confusion when delivering complicated information. This is also beneficial when there is a specific group of people who are underperforming and you want to address possible solutions or issues to a specific group.
Diverse groups include differences in “gender, class, race and ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, and physical ability” (Locker & Kienzler, 2008, p. 465). These differences also play an important role when trying to communicate information to a group of people. These differences will affect the way that the shareholders receive the information that you are trying to convey to them. The difference in the group you are communicating with will also determine what may be the best way to communicate certain types of information to groups.
The final task in communicating this information to a group would to ensure that your methods of chosen communication are effective.
