Social Networking Websites and Electronic Commerce
The popularity of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are more than just for meeting friends. They have proved to be a powerful marketing channel. Social networking Websites provide opportunities for businesses of any size, whether congomerates, SMEs or one-man ventures. Social networking Websites are used to drive traffic to the e-commerce Websites through ads, blogs, by posting deals or new products on social networking Websites. Hence they have become a “standard” advertising and marketing channel for retailers.

3. If you are about to start up a business online, how do you use online social networking to promote your products and reach potential consumers?
4. You can even come up with your idea that any new way of using social networking Websites for the growth of E-commerce.
This should be presented in Powerpoint slides and presented in Week 6. All group members must present (in turn) a convincing business proposal that their business will be profitable. Presentation should take 15 minutes with 5 minutes for Q&A.

II) For a good proposal, you may want to consider measuring the effectiveness of your social networking campaign. Define your objectives that meet measurable business goals before you do anything else. Even when non-monetary goals are achieved, keep careful measurements and connect them back to your business goals in financial terms. The basic business metrics you should measure are:
* Number of transactions
* Number of customers
* Number of new customers
