Abstract
This paper will first give two definitions to the word “art”. The second portion of this paper will give a description of eight types of art which are Painting, Sculpture, Architecture, Photography, Printmaking, Conceptual Art, Installation Art, and Performance Art. After each description it will give a brief explanation of why it exemplifies the definition of the word “art”.

* Architecture

This picture reflects harmony, tranquility, creativity, and above all the visual effects of the geometric design that went into the perception of the design.
* Photography

This photograph was taken by Bruno Di Bernardo using a Nikon D7000 camera. Photography exemplifies art by expression it reflects the beauty of nature. According to the many types of photographs it can reflect what a person may be feeling.
* Printmaking
Selbstbildnis (Self-Portrait)
This piece of art was produced by Käthe Kollwitz a German Printmaker and sculptor in 1923 using a woodcut block. This print exemplifies art because it shows the artist carving skills. By doing the block of a self-portrait you can meet the artist as well as understand want his prints reflect.
* Conceptual art

The artist is Lawrence Weiner created this pain on the wall in 1988. It is located at the Museum of Modern Art, NJ. This art is intended to bring forth the idea or a concept to the perceiver. The production should show artistic knowledge and the art is not an end in itself.
* Installation art

Artwork by Dan Flavin in 1993 of fluorescent lights located at the Dia Center for the Arts, NY. Installation art can be site-specific or not and can be displayed indoors or outside. The use of the blue and green light exemplifies the relation to a specific architectural context.
* Performance art

Performance art exemplifies the art of expression through the presentation of dance, sculpture, drama, and music.
