I always start out by going to a quiet, clean room in my house so I can focus without all the interruptions. Most of my readings I write word for word on to a separate sheet of paper, this helps me to absorb the information, but it is also very time consuming. When I do this, by the first few pages I am worn out, and losing interest. Plus it is cramming me with information I do not feel is important. Even using this strategy I still have to read things several times.
• How might you incorporate three of the suggestions covered this week into your study time?
All of the strategies I learned this week will replace the method that I am currently using. What I was doing was a waste of time, burning me out, and the end results were not acceptable. The mapping is a wonderful way of bringing out important information. I did some mapping last night, and the results were beneficial. I was able to put my map in my own words; have all the important information easily visible and was more of a benefit then my current strategy. Considering these strategies will save me time, they will fit right into my study time.
• How might this plan help you accomplish your reading goals?
The study tips I learned this week have given me the ability to save time; increase the absorption of what I read, make reading less exhausting, and give me a better understanding of what I am reading. I have already started using the tips I have learned, I am much less stressed, and more capable. I know when a person feels better about what they are doing; they can jump right in, and give it all they have. Learning these tips has lifted a weight off me, and is giving me the opportunity to excel where I know I was lacking.
