Analysis of Team Charter
Working in a team can have its advantages and disadvantages. Preparing a team charter is a document that is geared towards finding out a little about your team’s strengths and weaknesses are and what expectations they have from members on the team. From the paper below I will discuss how our team charter will help us to improve our performance based on our individual differences.
In the team I have been assigned to we all have different personalities, my personality is ESTP: Outgoing, live for the moment, unconventional and spontaneous, possible careers as a stockbroker, insurance or car sales person, bartender, sports coach, entertainment promoter. The second member on my team has a personality of ISTJ: organized, compulsive, private, trustworthy, and practical. Possible career as an office manager, accountant, business manager, tax ...view middle of the document...
We also seem to understand assigned deadlines are important and if not met can affect each of our performances.
From the self assessment of listening skills we all seem to be good listeners our scores ranged from 47-49. From discussing with my team we are all willing to hear what each other has to says and willing to provide feedback where necessary. An example of this is on our team charter in the section “Learning Team Goals” I stated that “I would like that we are all able to meet our deadlines we set each other, if we are unable please communicate this to the remaining team members so we can work on a solution. Felicia: I agree with Andrew’s goal for the group but I would also like to add that if anyone is having a problem getting quality information for their section of work that they inform the group so that others can make suggestions.
Shellie: I agree with you Felicia, if anyone needs anymore information feels free to ask and let me know. I am certain we will make our deadline.”(Team Charter, 2010) This here shows an example of how we listened to each other and offered solutions to help each other improve on our performance.
Working within a team it is always hard to trust that each member will complete their assigned tasks on time. Very often you hear that in a team there is always a member of the team who slacks off and does not provide their assigned tasks in a timely manner. From the analysis of my team trust levels the scores range from 3 – 5. As you will notice one of my team members find it extremely hard to trust people due to prior instances it has forced her to feel this way. The way the charter will help to overcome the trust issue is we can use the charter to see where all our strengths and weaknesses are, once we have recognized this we then can then allocate tasks where each individual will find it easy and enjoyable to do. From working in prior teams when an individual is assigned a task they enjoy they will complete the task quickly and successfully.
