Abortion Is Murder Essay

999 words - 4 pages

Imagine being naïve and unknowing of your situations. You are floating in a sac of protection, legs tucked just below your chin. This is home to you. Now it is time to exit the mother ship, down the canal of who knows what. Only that this is quite different from birth. A rough hand grabs you and pulls you out. You kick and your heart rate increases, scared of what waits. After being manhandled out of your home, a sharp slit burns your upper neck. This is the last thing some unborn babies know before their short lives are ended. Abortion, the deliberate extermination of an unborn baby, is murder.

Abortion is usually a cruel, medical procedure that may bring pain to the fetus. At lifenews.com4, Rebecca Downs wrote an article titled “Abortion Methods and Abortion Procedures Used to Kill Unborn Babies”, in which she explains in detail the methods used. The suction aspiration is the most common during the first trimester, in which 88% of abortions are done, according to prochoice.org5. In this method, according to Ms. Downs, “the abortionist runs the tip of the cannula along the surface of the uterus, causing the baby to be dislodged and sucked into the tube – either whole or in pieces.” In the D&E method, common around second trimester, is when a pair of forceps are used to drag the child out of the birth canal. Usually the spine must be snapped and skull crushed in order to remove them. In later abortions, the less common methods of salt poisoning and of chemical abortion may be used.
Why is this murder? Legally this not considered murder but logically I think we can agree that it is. For example, one brutally murders a puppy. Now this situation tugs at the heartstrings, but this is not legally considered murder. Animal cruelty, but not murder. What physically happens inside of the puppy is what makes it murder. It ceases to live by the intentional brutality of an outside force. This is what abortion is. Of course we cannot legally cite that abortion is murder because abortion is protected by law, but we can all logically agree that is indeed. In the case of the Florida man, his unborn child died at his hands and he was imprisoned, but doctors can legally do the same, except the mother is aware.
There are laughable ironies in these fetal protection acts as fetuses are protected against malice to them and their mother but not abortion. The Unborn Victims of Violence Act establishes this purpose: “To amend title 18, United States Code, and...
