The Five Year Plan
In the 1930’s the USSR managed complete their Second Five Year Plan which was based on socialism. By ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬collectivize farmers the economic increased and the wealth and industry arose throughout the state.
1. Comprehension in context
Source A is from a Resolution of the 18th Party Congress, 1939. In the years preceding the USSR was influenced by Marxism and the state tried to create a country with socialism by getting rid of the class difference and all men should be equal. This also shows how he is unsatisfied with his wage and this is clearly someone who is against the Five Year Plan and he does not think that the achievements were good for all.
There is a big contrast between these sources as they describe two different things. A good view on the 5 Year Plan and a bad view. Source A is from 1939 and after the plan was done whereas source B is from 1932 where the plan was under construction which may be the one of the reasons for the differences but most important is who wrote the source.
3. Assessing the sources
The reliability in source C is reliable to the extent of looking at the self-perception of the country. The source is written by a Russian and it is published in 1981 so it is a second hand source. The source describes the Five Year Plan as a great thing for the country and it gets all the credit for the Russian industrial development. It does not say anything about the workers unwilling way to fulfill the goals but the perspective of the way the workers arose. This is obviously written to get a better view on Russia. It is however reliable to see how the politician used propaganda to make the Five Year Plan look better. This is seen in the way the plan, in this source, only is describes as a good plan.
