Avro Museum's Replica Arrow was inspired by the 1/8 scale movie models. During eight years of research a 1/5 scale flight test model was built and flown, the aircraft now being modelled in modern aeronautics computer software. The Replica aircraft in based on construction of a 0.6 scale, flying version of CF-105 MK 1 Avro Arrow under Canadian Recreational Aircraft Legislation. A maximum weight of 5000 pounds is allowed for amateur built aircraft built under the Canadian rules. This weight limitation and the consideration pilot human factors were the primary determinats for setting the scale factor of the Avro Arrow replica. Volunteers have faithfully recreated the aerodynamic shape of the aircraft from original Avro technical reports. While the aircraft's outward appearance will be accurate, it will feature a totally new internal structure consistent with the composite materials being used. The museum has a large archive of Avro information and artifacts.
